Oct/Nov, 2009: United Nations Human Rights Council and UN General Assembly promote accusations that Israel is guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity by deliberately targeting civilians in Gaza.

Following Judge Richard Goldstone’s retraction of the most damaging and points of the Goldstone Report, written for the United Nations Human Rights Council which charged that Israel intentionally killed Palestinian civilians, the Simon Wiesenthal Center is calling on UN Secretary General Ban-ki moon to immediately take action.
Just as Mr. Ban ki-moon commended Goldstone for his leadership and independence when authoring the Report, today, we urge the UN Chief to:
1. Make a public statement endorsing Goldstone’s retraction of the Report
2. Instruct UN Human Rights Council head Navi Pillay to take all necessary steps to have the Council void its dangerous, erroneous one-sided biased October 2009 resolution
3. To inform members of the UN General Assembly of Judge Goldstone’s retraction
The Goldstone Report generated a tidal wave of anti-Israel sentiment and fueled anti-Israel campaigns from the European Union to Church deliberations to the Boycott, Divestment and Sanction efforts on campuses worldwide.
The big lie that the Israeli military acted like Nazis has now been retracted. The UN spread that libel and only the UN can retract it.
I join with the Simon Wiesenthal Center and its 400,000 worldwide supporters in urging you to publicly endorse Judge Richard Goldstone’s retraction of The Goldstone Report whose key allegation was that Israel targeted civilians in Gaza during the 2009 war with Hamas. We further ask you to inform all members of the UN General Assembly of his retraction.
We also urge you to call on the UN Human Rights Council Chief Navi Pillay and UNHRC members to block any further action based on the erroneous charges in what is now seen by the author as a fundamentally flawed document.
The Goldstone Report has caused inestimable and continuing damage to the international standing of Israel and her supporters around the world. Judge Goldstone has now publicly disassociated himself from his own report. The United Nations should do no less.
